NOTE: This letter from Mary Lyon to Emily Bridge, superintendent of the
Domestic Department at the Seminary, has been filed as if dated
Sept. 5, 1842. There is, however, some question about the actual date of
the letter. The date has been placed by Elizabeth Green as more likely
ca. Sept. 23-25, 1843.
